Attractive locations

Belgrade Fortress (Kalemegdan)

The old fortress on a ridge above the meeting of the Sava and Danube rivers, with ramparts, gates, towers and a large park around it. Its terraces give some of the best views in the city.

Church of Saint Sava

A vast white-domed Orthodox church on a hill, among the largest of its kind in the world. Its interior is decorated with mosaics and remains partly unfinished, and the dome dominates the skyline.

Nikola Tesla Museum

A museum in a villa dedicated to the Serbian-born inventor Nikola Tesla. It holds his belongings, papers and urn, and demonstrations with electricity show the ideas behind his work.

Ada Ciganlija

A river peninsula turned into a long lakeside recreation area, with beaches, cycling paths, sports grounds and cafes. Belgraders flock here to swim and relax in warm weather.

House of Flowers (Tito's Mausoleum)

The burial place of Josip Broz Tito, the long-time leader of Yugoslavia, set in a garden. A neighbouring museum displays gifts and items from his time in office.

Knez Mihailova Street

Belgrade's main pedestrian street, running from Republic Square towards the fortress, lined with 19th-century buildings, shops and cafes. It is the usual starting point for a walk through the old centre.

Skadarlija

A cobbled bohemian street in old Belgrade with traditional restaurants, live folk music and leafy terraces. Once home to artists and writers, it now feels like a village corner of the city.
