About Tripinfor

A free, independent information site for worldwide travellers.

How we check information

Help directory listings must come from an official source and show the date they were last checked. Listings we can't confirm stay off the site. Other pages are general guidance.

Help and what to do guides

Every help listing and every step in a "what to do if" guide comes from an official source: a government, a national Red Cross or Red Crescent society, or a United Nations agency. Phone numbers and addresses are copied from the official page, never from memory, and each listing shows the date we checked it. UN agencies and international charities appear only where they genuinely help travellers, and each says who qualifies. If we cannot open the official page, the item stays off the site.

Government travel advice: each country page links to the UK and Canadian advice pages. We do not summarise the risk level, because it changes quickly and an old summary can mislead you.

Getting around, taxis and scams

Every tip in these sections comes from an official source: the transport operator, the airport, a city or national tourism board, or a government travel advice service. The source and the date we checked it are shown under each tip. Scams are listed only when an official source names them. We don't list fares or prices, because they change often; each tip points you to where to check the current fare.

Please confirm important details

Rules, fees and phone numbers change. Always confirm with the official source before you rely on them, especially for entry rules and emergencies. Tripinfor can't guarantee that any organisation listed will help in your situation.

City photos come from Wikimedia Commons, with the author and licence shown under each photo.

Disaster alerts come from GDACS, the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System run by the United Nations and the European Commission. We show only its Orange and Red alerts from the last 30 days, updated monthly, and each alert links back to GDACS.

Airport details come from OurAirports (public domain). Monthly weather averages come from NASA POWER. Price levels come from the World Bank (CC BY 4.0). Place locations and identifiers come from Wikidata (CC0).
