Nasir-ol-Molk Mosque
Known as the Pink Mosque, famed for its stained-glass windows that fill the prayer hall with coloured light in the morning. Decorated with floral tilework, it dates from the Qajar period.

Eram Garden
Persian garden with a Qajar-era pavilion, tall cypress trees, pools and flower beds. It is part of the UNESCO listing of Persian gardens and lies within the grounds of a university botanic garden.
Tomb of Hafez
Tomb of the 14th-century poet Hafez, set in a garden under an open pavilion. Iranians come to read and recite his verse, and the place has a relaxed, thoughtful mood.
Karim Khan Citadel
Fortress-like residence built in the 1700s for Karim Khan Zand, with thick brick walls, four round corner towers and a courtyard planted with orange trees.
Saadi Mausoleum
Tomb of the 13th-century poet Saadi, set in a landscaped garden with pools. Visitors come to remember one of Persian literature's best-loved writers.
Persepolis
Ruins of the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, with tall stone columns, grand stairways and carved scenes of delegations bringing gifts. It lies outside Shiraz and is usually visited as a day trip.
Naqsh-e Rustam
Cliff necropolis with the rock-cut tombs of Achaemenid kings, including Darius I, and later Sasanian carved reliefs below them. It is close to Persepolis and often visited with it.
